Paper Maché Eggs

Have a fun time making these fun Easter Egg treasures. They will be a family favorite for year to come.

We offer kits that include 2 fillable paper maché eggs, acrylic paints and DieCuts for embellishing.

Or, you can buy the paper maché eggs here on Amazon. Here is the link. You can also go to your local craft store and see if they have something similar.

Second step is to paint the surfaces.

Paint the inside and outside any color you like! Any crafting acrylic will work fine. If you would like to order paints on Amazon, here is a link to a brand we like and use often. So many colors available : )  You will only need a small 2oz bottle to cover many eggs.

Third step is to embellish eggs with DieCuts

Now it's time to apply your Organic Botanical DieCuts. You can apply them however you wish, but we are loving the look of cutting the DieCut in half and putting one half on the top part of the egg and the other half right below it on the bottom part of the egg. Simple dip the DieCut element in water to activate the paste on the back and then apply. Gently press with a clean cloth or paper towel - first aborbing any ecce water and then patting down the DieCut until it lays flat. After a minute or so, go back and pat them down again to make sure they are laying flat. Let dry.

Go wild! There are so many ways to paint and decorate your eggs. There are tons of fun videos and tutorials online to find ideas that suit you best. Send us along some of you creations - we would love to see them.

Fourth (optional) step is to coat your eggs.

If you wish, you can now coat them with a decoupage glue. You don't need to, but lots of our customer like the look of the coating. You can use any of the Mod Podge glues. Here is an Amazon link to our favorite one. If you would rather shop local (which is alway great) you will find Mod Podge at your local craft or hardware stores.

Lastly.... Fill them with treats and trinkets!

Making a bouquet inside is a terrific surprise and perfect for an easter brunch tablesetting. Simply cut a styrofoam ball in half and then trim to bottom flat so it will sit in the inside bottom of the egg. Hot glue, glue or tape the styrofoam in the egg and let dry. For these tulip-filled eggs, we cut stems off of a silk flower bunch and then insert them into the foam. When you put the top back on, tuck in the petals and leaves.
